Newsletter Term 4

Welcome to Term 4 everyone, we have another busy term with EOTC and Athletics. If you have any questions or concerns feel free to pop in anytime or you can contact me by email:

Important Dates and Reminders
- We are on Mass in week 7 which will be the 27th of November if you would like to join us.
P.E days this term are Monday and Thursday week 1, then this changes to Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday when we start to do Athletics in week 2. Please wear your P.E gear to school on these days.
 - EOTC week is in week 5, thank you for all those people who could help during the week. At this stage I have enough helpers for each day. Thank you to those who returned their notices I am still missing around 10 parent consent/health forms, could these please be returned as soon as possible. There will be a few more notices going home in the next few weeks about EOTC so please look out for these and return them as soon as you can.
- We are a health promoting school so please keep this in mind with the children’s lunches. We are still doing fruit and read too so please make sure there is at least one piece of fruit in your child’s lunchbox.

- Homework for the first 3 weeks has gone home today too. The children are required to bake muffins/cupcakes, package, present and advertise their product.
- They are expected to be reading every day and I most children will be finished the 30 book challenge by the end of the year.
- The children should be practising their basic facts as much as possible. They need to be fast at their multiplication facts by the end of the year. In the first few weeks the school is doing a mathletics trial, it would be great if the children could be using this as much as possible as it will help them improve in a range of areas at their level.

What’s Going on at School
- In Reading we are doing novel studies, where the children are in groups and have to read to a certain page in a week and then they have roles to complete. They then meet with others reading the same book as them and discuss what they have read and their roles.
- In Writing we will be continuing to focus on how we can be level 3 writers by writing a range of types and topics.
- In Maths we will be continuing our problem solving focus and developing resilience in Maths. We are starting the term by finishing multiplication and division and the geometry strand from last term. We will then move on to focusing on fractions, decimals and percentages, proportions and ratios and Algebra.
- In R.E we will be focusing finishing off the prayer strand this week and then moving to the Communion of Saints strand.
- Our theme for the year is ‘Living the way, the truth and the light’. This term we are finishing our politics unit and moving on to passion projects to help us develop our research skills. We are also doing a health unit around teamwork and a technology unit later in the term too. We have also been looking at choice areas in Science, we will finish that this term too.

Blogs This is our class blog site, the children regularly post on the blog and their learning is shared on here. There is also links and information for you to help them with their learning at home, especially maths videos to help them to practice their strategies.
I am really impressed with some children’s fantastic blogging that they are doing on their own blog sites. It is great to see them owning their learning and sharing it with us. Keep up the blogging!

  1. I will bring my consent/health form on monday
