Homework

I am not setting homework but you can continue with you week goals at home. If you want more to do use the links below to help you.

Writing - do some writing on your documents and then in the right hand corner click the blue share button and type in mtangney@stjoseph.school.nz and then I will be able to give you some feedback. Use this document to help you get some ideas for your writing:  https://docs.google.com/a/stjoseph.school.nz/document/d/

These are some good websites to practice your comprehension and help your deeper thinking:
http://wonderopolis.org/ - when you choose a wonder it has a vocab activity and some comprehension activities on the right hand side.
http://ed.ted.com/  - when you choose a video on the right hand side it has 'think' at the side which is a range of questions about the video.
http://reading.ecb.org/index.html - create a login and then you can practice your comprehension strategies.
http://www.exquisite-minds.com/best-thinking-games-online/ - good thinking activitieshttp://stjosephsyear7.blogspot.co.nz/p/reading.html - webquests you could follow one of these and present your findings if you wanted too.

What is prayer...

This is what the year 7's came up with today for a definition of what prayer is...

Let people know who God is.
Thinking about others who are at hard times.
Staying loyal to God.
Prayer is something when thinking of God we pray for people who are hurt or feeling sad
prayer is trying to get help from heaven
thinking of others, becoming a stronger person
Thinking deeply prayer is a time of reverence
Reach to God to tell him how you think of bad things happening in the world.
Thinking of thoughtful prayers Having prayers Having to think really deep
for what we are praying for.
Helping people unwell/dying
prayer is worship think as deeeeeeeep as u can
Prayer is praying to God about your worries
thinking for others
prayer is worshiping God and thanking him for all he has done for us
Prayer is giving to the poor
Prayer is when you pray for forgiveness
HELPING THE SICK AND DYING

The definition of prayer is when you are asking God for help or advice.

Welcome back note

This has been emailed to parents or your child will get a copy on Monday.

Welcome to the friends and families of the 2015 Year Seven class! It is fantastic to be back with all of the same students as last year.
Last week we were settling in to our new environment and Hub set up and I am impressed by the way the students have engaged and shown great self-management skills last week. We look forward to having you see all this in action during our open morning later in the term.
Things you can ask your children about to generate discussion include; Learner Licenses, Workshops, Learning Groups and Google Docs.
As there are many changes and a lot of information to absorb, please note ALL this information can be accessed on the St Joseph’s Teaching and Learning Site (https://sites.google.com/a/stjoseph.school.nz/teaching-and-learning-at-st-joseph-s/home). There you will find all school news, our weekly timetables and goals– also including all tasks children are working on each week. Children are NOT expected to complete this work at home, however, this new set up allows you to be fully involved in your child’s learning, and your child can work on their learning from home should they wish to. Also, on the site you will find a link to our Year Seven Blog (http://stjosephsyear7.blogspot.co.nz/). This blog will be used to share information, notices and pictures etc. Your children all have their own school email address (which can be accessed from home) and their own blog which they will be using for learning purposes only. I am able to send them their weekly goals and timetables and any other relevant information via their google drive– so you can share this at home if you wish. Please note we are in the process of ensuring all children have these things up and running and this may take a week or two.
As I am sure many of you will have questions, it would be great to see as many of you as possible at our Family Learning Hui this Wednesday. Of course, I am always happy to answer any questions and help in any way I can.  I am very much looking forward to speaking with all of you soon.

Many thanks, Miss Morgan Tangney (mtangney@stjoseph.school.nz)
