Novel Study Week 5 - Theme

Hi everyone. The discussion this week centres around themes in what we're reading. We're just starting to explore what a theme is and how we can use our skills as great readers to figure out what the author's message is and the theme they are writing about.

Here are our first thoughts - our initial thinking - so join in the discussion and tell us about the themes in the books you're reading.

  7. This book shows the corruption of society and how when in a struggle for your life basic logic and human rights are dumped in order to stay alive. This is hinted throughout with the death of piggy and simon and other situations involving jack and his choir. WWII inspired the author [William Golding] because all human qualities are dropped during war. This is the major theme for best seller "Lord of the Flies"
